World No Tobacco Day – 31 May 2020 The member countries of the World Health Organization celebrated World Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and its causes of death and preventable disease. In 1987, the World Health Organization adopted Resolution WHA40.38, which called for April 7, 1988 to be World No Tobacco Day. In 1988, WHA 42.19 was approved, calling for the observance of World No Tobacco Day on May 31 each year.
