Megapixels of Camera are not Important for good quality Images:experts
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 plus in 2020 with a 96-megapixel quad camera including 64-megapixel telephoto camera. But is this number really important?Whenever Apple, Samsung or any other brand introduces a new mobile phone, consumers are excited about the screen, the battery and especially the camera.
The latest iPhone model, the iPhone 11, has a 12-megapixel camera and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a 16-megapixel camera.
Huawei's Mate 30 version has a triple camera system with a 40-megapixel sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle and an eight-megapixel telephoto lens.
Megapixels and Image Quality
No matter how anxious you are for megapixels, the truth is that more megapixels not necessarily gives better quality images. Many users are impressed with this number because 12 megapixels doesn't sound as good as 32 megapixels, even if the camera takes great pictures.
And using the same logic, 108 megapixels would be even better than 32 or 48!
According to the American magazine Scientific American, the secret behind testing mobile phone cameras in this way is that "just counting the number of megapixels is not the right way to measure photographic performance."
We need to keep in mind that the number of megapixels determines the resolution of the camera. And the resolution affects the size of the image, but not the quality. It shows us how big we can make an image without losing image quality.
This means that if you want to print a picture of yourself in A 4 size, it doesn't matter which mobile you choose. If you want to print it to a larger size, such as A 2, you need to think about the number of megapixels. Most photos taken from mobile phones are posted on social media networks, shared on WhatsApp or uploaded to a website, where they must be small in size to be loaded.
'Sensor Size makes a difference
According to Sergio Barbero Briiones, a researcher at the Optics Institute of the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Spain, the difference is not the number of pixels but their size. And the decision is made by the sensor, whose job is to collect light.
How much light there is and how well the camera collects it makes a difference to the quality of the image
Expert photographers say"There can be no photography without light," .
Barbero says"The smaller the pixel, the better the image" .
And if the final shape of any of your images had not been decided by the laws of physics, "we could have got unlimited resolutions."
But this is not possible because we will always face a 'diffraction spot' due to the nature of the light wave. This creates the technical limitations for resolution.
Size of image sensor
According to Scientific American, "the size of an image sensor is important, and the larger the sensor, the larger its pixels, and the larger the pixels, the more light it can collect." The more light you can collect, the better the picture will be. 'Better sensors
Mobile phone companies usually specify the size of the camera sensor. But it can be a little difficult for the average user to understand. What we need to know about the size of the sensor is that the smaller the number being divided by the number above, the bigger and better the size of the sensor.
So samsung axy S9 with sensor of 1 / 2.6 inch is slightly better than an iPhone 8 with sensor of 1/3 inch
So in the above data, Samsung's sensor is slightly better than Apple's sensor. So the next time you want to know how good a mobile phone camera is, don't fall into the trap of marketing!
